DSS apprehends Maina’s son in Abuja after six years on the run

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Faisal Maina, son of former Pension Reform Task Team chairman Abdulrasheed Maina, six years after he allegedly jumped bail.

Faisal was reportedly arrested in the Karsana area of Abuja following an intelligence-led operation by DSS operatives.

Sources told TheCable that he had been transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after his arrest.

According to one of the sources, the security agency acted on credible intelligence suggesting that Faisal had secretly returned to Nigeria.

“His arrest followed credible intelligence which indicated that Faisal had secretly returned to the country,” the source said.

Faisal has been on the run since 2020, when he was facing a three-count charge of money laundering brought against him by the EFCC.

His arrest comes six years after he reportedly absconded while facing prosecution over the allegations.
