Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has relieved all his political aides of their appointments in a sweeping shake-up of his administration.
The affected officials include all special advisers, advisers, special assistants, assistants to the governor, the Deputy Chief of Staff, as well as the Principal Private Secretary.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mashood Agboola.
According to the statement, Governor AbdulRazaq expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their contributions to the administration and wished them success in their future endeavours.
"His Excellency expresses his gratitude to all the appointees for their priceless service to the state. He wishes them the best in their future endeavours," the statement read.
The governor also directed all those affected by the decision to hand over all government property in their possession to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
No official reason was given for the dissolution of the governor's team of aides.
AbdulRazaq, who is serving his second and final term as governor, is expected to complete his tenure at the end of May next year. He is seeking election to the Senate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
