The White House has launched a 24-hour streaming channel dedicated to broadcasting President Donald Trump's speeches, announcements and other official video content, as tensions between the administration and major US news organisations over media access continue.
The channel, named “TRUMP TV: The Essentials Station”, was announced by the White House on Monday through its official X account.
According to the White House, the platform, which is available through its website and YouTube channel, will be updated in real time and feature major moments from Trump's presidency, including speeches, videos and other highlights.
The launch comes amid an escalating dispute between the Trump administration and several major American news organisations over access to the White House.
The administration recently barred CNN, Politico and MS NOW from the White House grounds, prompting the three organisations to sue over the restrictions.
ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC subsequently suspended their shared White House pool coverage following the changes to media access.
The White House has defended its policy, while Trump has repeatedly criticised coverage of his administration, accusing some news organisations of reporting on his presidency unfairly.
The inaugural Trump TV broadcast relied on previously recorded material rather than a live presidential appearance.
Among the footage aired was Trump's July 3 address at Mount Rushmore.
The new channel gives the White House a direct means of distributing footage of the president and his administration to the public without relying exclusively on conventional television networks.
The platform is expected to continue carrying official White House video content as the administration's dispute with several major news organisations over access remains unresolved.
