Obidient Movement Set for Rebirth as Obi, Otti, Nenadi Storm Abuja

The Obidient Movement, the political force that shook Nigeria’s 2023 general elections, is set to undergo a symbolic rebirth in Abuja on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, with key figures in the Labour Party and the movement leading the charge.

Frontlining the renaissance are the party’s 2023 presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi; Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti; and the Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi Usman. The trio is expected to play prominent roles in an event designed to reposition and reenergize the movement ahead of future political contests.

The event, themed “The Renaissance of the Obidient Movement,” will be held at the Nigerian Air Force Conference Centre in Kado, Abuja. According to a statement from the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Obi will attend as Special Guest of Honour, alongside other influential figures from the movement.

Legal scholar and public affairs analyst, Professor Sam Amadi, will deliver the keynote address titled “The Inevitability of a New Nigeria,” while Labour Party chieftain and National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, is also expected to speak.

One of the major highlights of the event will be the presentation of a new book titled “Obi: The Political Change Agent,” written by seasoned journalist and political commentator Ike Abonyi. The book captures Obi’s transformation from a quiet reformer to a national political force and the inspiration behind the youth-driven Obidient Movement.

The foreword to the book is penned by rights advocate and lawyer Dele Farotimi, while the review will be done by Oseloka H. Obaze, former diplomat and one-time campaign manager for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council.

Supporters and stakeholders of the Obidient Movement from across Nigeria are expected to attend the event, which organisers say signals a new chapter in the movement’s evolution—from a viral campaign to a structured political force.
