Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for all categories of public servants in the state to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
The directive, announced in a statement issued on Monday by the governor's spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, applies to civil servants across ministries, departments and agencies, including employees of local government councils and state-owned tertiary institutions.
According to the statement, the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, communicated the approval through a circular distributed across the public service, explaining that the decision was intended to give workers the opportunity to fulfil their civic responsibility by obtaining their PVCs for the governorship poll and future elections.
The circular, however, exempted personnel providing essential services, including healthcare workers and security operatives, directing them to make internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and avoid disruption to critical public services.
Governor Adeleke urged public servants and other eligible residents who are yet to collect their voter cards to do so without delay, stressing the importance of broad participation in the electoral process.
He described the upcoming governorship election as crucial to the future of Osun State, calling on registered voters to visit designated collection centres and obtain their PVCs.
"Your vote is your power. Your Permanent Voter Card is your licence to the ballot paper and, ultimately, to the ballot box," the governor said.
