The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday granted bail to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, fixing the bail sum at N100 million.
Delivering the ruling, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik said the former governor must produce one surety in like sum before he can perfect the bail conditions.
The court stipulated that the surety must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro, two high-profile districts within the Federal Capital Territory.
Justice Abdulmalik also ordered the surety to deposit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property with the court registry.
As part of the conditions, the surety must be a federal civil servant on Grade Level 17 or above and present evidence of salary payments for at least three months.
The court further directed that the salary documents and other credentials submitted must be authenticated through a letter from the surety’s bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.
El-Rufai was subsequently admitted to bail pending the continuation of proceedings in the case before the court.
The matter was adjourned to a later date for further hearing.
