Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed reports suggesting he has defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC), describing posters circulating on social media to that effect as fake and the handiwork of political detractors.
The former Kano State governor insisted that he remains a loyal member of the APC, stressing that he has no intention of leaving the ruling party.
In a statement released on Friday by his former Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, Ganduje said the posters were deliberately designed to mislead Nigerians, create uncertainty within the APC and tarnish his political image.
He maintained that there was no truth in claims that he had dumped the APC, noting that he remained committed to the party's ideals and leadership.
According to the statement, it would be illogical for Ganduje to abandon a party he once led as National Chairman, insisting that the reports were nothing more than political propaganda.
The former APC chairman described himself as a politician guided by principles, saying he was not one to move from one political party to another for personal gain or convenience.
He reaffirmed his confidence in the APC, describing it as the country's dominant political platform and commended the leadership of President Bola Tinubu for consolidating the party's position nationwide.
The statement alleged that those behind the fake posters were desperate individuals seeking to create unnecessary political tension and misinform members of the public.
Ganduje disclosed that the individuals responsible for producing and circulating the posters had been identified and warned that legal proceedings would be instituted against them unless they immediately withdrew the materials and halted further dissemination.
He urged party faithful and Nigerians to ignore the reports, insisting that they did not reflect his political position or future plans.
The former governor also pledged his continued support for President Tinubu's administration and the APC, saying he remains committed to working with the party to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen its structures ahead of future elections.
He advised the public to rely only on official statements issued by him or the APC on matters concerning his political activities, warning against misinformation spread through unofficial channels.
