President Bola Tinubu has concluded his working vacation in France and travelled to Lagos, where he is scheduled to meet political leaders and associates as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
The President left Paris on Tuesday and was expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, later in the day.
His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation, spending about a week in London before proceeding to Paris.
According to the Presidency, the President opted to return through Lagos to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, widely regarded as the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and a prominent figure in Nigeria's democratic struggle.
Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a film celebrating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, on October 1, as part of activities marking Nigeria's Independence Day.
The Presidency said the President would also hold a series of meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos.
“While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections,” Onanuga said.
During his stay in France, Tinubu held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and engaged with prominent business figures.
He also met Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose business interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
On Monday, the President held a meeting with the Chairman of First Holdings, Femi Otedola.
Tinubu also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway deep seaport and a Blue Marine Economic Zone in Ogun Waterside.
The Presidency said DP World planned to invest $7 billion in the project, which it described as a major ports and logistics development.
Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after completing his engagements in Lagos.
