Alia dissolves cabinet, appoints Atagher as new Chief of Staff

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has dissolved the State Executive Council and appointed Moses Atagher as his new Chief of Staff.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, on Wednesday in Makurdi.

Atagher, a former two-term Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Benue State, is also a former acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank. He is expected to assume his new role immediately.

Governor Alia made the announcement at the conclusion of the 12th 2025 meeting of the State Executive Council. He expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their service over the past two years.

While noting that some of them may not return to the cabinet, he urged them to remain committed to the party and continue engaging with the system. He added that their exit opens the door for other citizens to contribute to the growth and development of the state.
