The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has dismissed allegations that its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, has ever campaigned for any government or taken a partisan political stance, insisting that he has consistently remained politically neutral.
In a statement released on Tuesday by its Public Relations department, the church said Pastor Adeboye has never endorsed any political party or candidate, adding that his public engagements have centred on civic responsibility and moral guidance.
The church noted that the cleric has repeatedly urged members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate in elections, stressing that voting decisions should be based on individual choice rather than influence or political alignment from religious leaders.
RCCG also denied reports suggesting that Adeboye cancelled a planned protest, explaining that he merely communicated an instruction from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) regarding changes to a scheduled three-day prayer programme and rally.
It clarified that the adjustment involved centralising the programme’s final session at a designated venue, in line with PFN arrangements covering member churches across the country.
Responding to claims that Adeboye has avoided commenting on national issues, the church said the cleric has consistently addressed concerns such as insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, governance and elections, though often through spiritual counsel and prayer rather than political commentary.
“Pastor E.A. Adeboye and the RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and the Church will not remain silent while inaccurate narratives are spread as fact,” the statement read.
The church urged media organisations, bloggers and the public to verify information through official RCCG communication platforms before publication, warning against attributing unauthorised statements to its leadership.
It added that only statements issued through recognised RCCG channels should be regarded as the official position of the Church.
