The Chief Executive Officer of Jezco Oil and Gas, Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, has reportedly been abducted in Awka, Anambra State.
Ezeokafor, a billionaire businessman from Anambra State and father of Nigerian Instagram personality Jowizaza, was allegedly kidnapped last week at Ifite Awka while reportedly visiting a mountain for overnight prayers.
The allegation was made by a lawyer, Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Iwuchukwu claimed that Ezeokafor went to the location alone, without his security personnel and police officers who, according to him, normally accompanied the businessman.
He alleged that unidentified gunmen seized Ezeokafor during the prayer session and took him to an undisclosed location.
“Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, a Nigerian billionaire businessman, the founder of Jezco Oil and the Jezco Group, who is also the father of Nigerian Instagram celebrity Jowizaza, was reportedly kidnapped last week from a bush in Awka, in Anambra State,” Iwuchukwu wrote.
According to the lawyer, the businessman had gone to the mountain “alone to pray and seek the face of God” without the security personnel and police officers usually attached to him.
Iwuchukwu further alleged that the kidnappers took advantage of Ezeokafor’s vulnerability while he was praying.
“In the course of the fervent prayers and his vulnerability, he was picked up by unknown gunmen who took him away to an unknown location,” he alleged.
There was no immediate independent confirmation of the reported abduction from the Anambra State Police Command or the businessman’s family as of the time of filing this report.
Ezeokafor is the founder of Jezco Oil and Jezco Group, and his reported abduction comes amid continuing security concerns and incidents of kidnapping in parts of southeastern Nigeria.
