President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
He will succeed Ishaq Oloyede, whose tenure is expected to end on July 31, 2026.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University with expertise in digital systems, examination technologies and institutional reform.
The Presidency described him as a young academic and systems expert with a strong background in technology-driven public sector transformation.
It also noted that Aina, who turns 40 in July, would become the youngest person ever to occupy the position of JAMB registrar.
“Professor Aina is a distinguished academic and systems expert with deep experience in digital infrastructure, national examination systems and public sector reform,” the statement read.
He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, followed by a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
The statement further said the new JAMB registrar has over 15 years of experience advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, systems architecture and institutional reforms.
It added that he has worked as a consultant to examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, particularly on ICT systems and examination integrity.
Aina is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Tinubu expressed confidence that the new appointment would strengthen JAMB’s operations and consolidate on the reforms achieved under the outgoing registrar.
