The Nigerian Navy has opened applications for its 2026 Batch 39 Basic Training School, with prospective candidates given October 31 as the deadline for submission of applications.
The recruitment portal is scheduled to open on October 2, 2026, according to the guidelines released by the service on Monday.
The Navy urged qualified Nigerians to apply through its official recruitment portal, warning applicants to be wary of individuals seeking money in exchange for assistance with the recruitment process.
The exercise is open to Nigerian citizens by birth who possess a National Identification Number (NIN) and satisfy the prescribed requirements for age, education, physical fitness and medical suitability.
Applicants must also be physically, medically and psychologically fit and must not have a previous criminal conviction.
The service stipulated a minimum height of 1.69 metres for male applicants and 1.65 metres for female candidates.
For applicants seeking entry with O’Level qualifications, the Navy said candidates must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026.
They are also required to possess at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
The guidelines stated that different age and qualification requirements would apply to candidates presenting OND and NCE certificates, tradesmen, applicants in medical-related fields and sportsmen and women.
Candidates who complete their applications online are required to print their acknowledgement forms, as well as the parent or guardian consent, Local Government attestation and guarantor’s certification forms.
The Navy said information on the recruitment examination, including the date and examination centres, would be communicated to applicants at a later date.
It stressed that registration and all stages of the recruitment process are free, warning candidates against making payments to anyone claiming to be able to secure recruitment slots.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the exercise,” the service said.
The Navy also warned that applicants would be disqualified if they submitted multiple applications.
“Only a single valid application is permitted, multiple online applications shall be disqualified,” the guidelines stated.
Applicants are equally expected to possess basic English communication skills, with the service stating that inability to communicate in English could lead to disqualification at any stage.
The Navy advised prospective candidates to consult its official recruitment portal for the full guidelines and other information ahead of the opening of the application window on October 2.
