The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it secured 10,872 convictions and recovered N1.233tn from financial crimes between October 2023 and July 2026.
The commission disclosed the figures on Thursday in a video published on its official X account, outlining its activities during the 34-month period under the leadership of its Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
The EFCC said it received 49,673 petitions during the period, with 39,615 of them leading to investigations.
It added that 14,476 cases were subsequently filed in court, resulting in 10,872 convictions.
The commission said the recovered funds formed part of its efforts to combat financial crimes and protect public resources.
It said the cases investigated covered offences including advance fee fraud, cybercrime, money laundering, bank fraud and economic governance-related crimes.
According to the EFCC, petitions remained the starting point for many of its enforcement activities, with investigations involving the tracing of financial transactions and the recovery of funds.
“Behind every number is a case investigated, a financial trail uncovered, and public resources recovered to keep pushing the fight against economic and financial crimes forward,” the commission said.
The agency described the N1.233tn recovery and the convictions recorded as part of the legacy of Olukoyede’s tenure as chairman.
“The work continues,” the commission added.
