Rangers International F.C. have emerged champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League for the ninth time after defeating Ikorodu City F.C. 2-1 away from home in a tense season finale on Sunday.
The famous Flying Antelopes sealed the title with a hard-fought victory that saw them finish top of the table, one point ahead of closest challengers Rivers United F.C..
Rivers United had kept pressure on the eventual champions with a home win over Katsina United F.C. in Port Harcourt, but the result was not enough to deny Rangers the crown.
The triumph marks Rangers’ ninth league title in the Nigerian top flight, bringing them level with Enyimba F.C. as the most successful club in NPFL history.
Rangers capped off the campaign in style, holding their nerve in Lagos to secure the crucial win and write another memorable chapter in the club’s history.
