Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has announced the death of her mother, who died on Sunday, October 18, 2026, following a prolonged illness.
Ade broke the news on Monday through a heartfelt message posted on her official Instagram page, where she mourned her mother and prayed for the repose of her soul.
The actress expressed her grief while acknowledging the will of Almighty Allah, describing her late mother as someone whose passing had left her heartbroken.
“With a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator after a long battle with illness,” she wrote.
Praying for her mother's soul, Ade appealed to Allah to forgive her shortcomings, grant her mercy and admit her into Al-Jannah Firdaus.
“Ya Allah, forgive her shortcomings, have mercy upon her, make her grave spacious and filled with light, and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus. Grant us sabr and strength as we navigate this painful loss. Ameen,” she said.
The actress also paid an emotional tribute to her mother, expressing her love and hope that they would be reunited in paradise.
“Mum, I love you. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen,” she added.
Ade disclosed that the family would announce details of the funeral arrangements at a later date.
The actress had previously made public her mother's health struggles. In October 2019, she shared photographs of her mother receiving medical attention in a hospital, describing her as a strong woman and expressing hope that she would recover.
The latest announcement has prompted an outpouring of sympathy from fans and well-wishers, who have offered condolences and prayers for the bereaved family.
Adunni Ade has built a career in Nollywood, featuring in both Yoruba and English-language productions.
As the family comes to terms with the loss, the actress has called on Allah for mercy upon her late mother and strength to cope with the painful bereavement.
