Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has issued a public apology to her colleague, Mercy Johnson, extending the gesture to her children and family over previous disagreements and online remarks.
In a video posted on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Okorie began by appreciating her fans before turning her message to Mercy Johnson.
“Hi everybody, this is your one and only Legit Queen. I just want to say a very big thank you to all my fans around the world… I’m not a perfect being,” she said.
She explained that the purpose of the video was to address Mercy Johnson directly.
“This video is specifically for Mercy and her kids and her family,” she noted.
Okorie reflected on how third-party comments and rumours may have strained their relationship over the years.
“Some people would tell me that Mercy said something, others would say Angela said something. There have been issues and quarrels, but at this age, I don’t think this is what I want,” she said.
Offering a direct apology, Okorie said she regretted any hurtful statements she may have made.
“I just want to apologise to you for any words I have written whenever your name came up on social media. I am deeply sorry. You are not a witch. You are not what people are calling you,” she stated.
She also condemned bullying directed at Mercy Johnson’s children, stressing the need for peace between families.
“We don’t know where our children will meet tomorrow. They could become best friends… I don’t like the fact that Mercy’s kids are being called names. That is bullying, and I won’t tolerate that if it happens to my child,” she said.
Okorie pleaded for forgiveness from anyone she might have offended and said she was seeking peace.
“I am deeply sorry for everything. Please forgive me, knowingly or unknowingly,” she added.
She disclosed that both actresses had already spoken privately and reconciled.
“When we spoke on the phone, you apologised and I accepted you wholeheartedly,” she said.
The actress concluded by expressing goodwill and prayers for Mercy Johnson.
The apology comes shortly after Okorie was arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department over allegations of cyberstalking, threats and harassment. She was later granted bail in the sum of N5 million.
