The Federal Government has announced plans to evacuate Nigerian nationals stranded in Israel and Iran amid rising hostilities between the two Middle Eastern nations.
This was disclosed in a statement issued Thursday by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, on behalf of the Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.
According to the statement, arrangements are being finalised for an emergency evacuation in response to the growing instability in the region. The government urged Nigerians affected by the crisis to maintain calm, follow security advisories, and promptly register with the nearest Nigerian embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran for further directives.
“The safety and well-being of Nigerian citizens remain a top priority for this administration,” Tuggar said.
He commended Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in both countries for their dedication in reaching out to affected nationals, despite the difficult circumstances.
The minister added that the evacuation effort is being coordinated in collaboration with international partners and relevant local authorities to ensure a secure and efficient operation.
In addition to evacuation plans, the Federal Government renewed its call for an immediate end to the hostilities and encouraged all parties to embrace peaceful dialogue. It stressed the need for strict adherence to international humanitarian law and the protection of civilian lives.
Ambassador Tuggar reiterated Nigeria’s firm stance on peaceful conflict resolution and its broader commitment to promoting regional and global stability.
